Swansea City have been dealt some good news with the report that Dennis Lawrence could be back in action sooner than thought.

Lawrence as initially due to be back in action this week but there was a setback and it was at one stage feared that he could be out for the season leaving the Swans short of cover in the centre back position.   But, fresh on the news that Marcos Painter will miss the next three weeks, there has been a softner with specialist reports that Lawrence does not need an operation and now it is down to the club to put a date on when the big man could be back in action.

"We've had some good news, " Richie Evans told the Evening Post

"The consultant's happy with Dennis' knee and he's going to have some treatment.

"He was going in for some surgery, but things were reviewed and it was decided that wasn't necessary. I'm waiting to speak to the consultant so I don't know how long he'll be out for, but it'll be a lot less than we thought.

"He's progressing really well. He had an MRI scan and things are looking good."

Meanwhile Ferrie Bodde, Leon Britton and Paul Anderson could all return to action against Huddersfield this weekend.
