The Vetch 1912-2005 - Meet The Patrons

The Vetch 1912-2005 - The Patrons

Another good week for the Vetch 1912-2005 project group with sales passing the 250 mark, this week we would like to introduce our patrons, not that they need much of an introduction: John Toshack MBE: A legend on and off the field, John still regularly gets to see the Swans play, he's right behind the project and when we first approached him, he was full of enthusiasm and is willing to help out in more ways than we could have expected. Esme Allchurch: Wife of the late, great Ivor, she is delighted to be involved, and we are honoured to have Esme on board. Mel Charles: Welsh International, a Jack through and through, rarely misses a home match and told us that he never wanted to leave the club when he was sold to Arsenal back in the 50's. Best mates with Mel Nurse, they can often be found having a drink in the Harry Griffiths bar after a match. Mel Nurse: Another Welsh International and proud Swansea Jack, who has had a great influence on the Club's survival and development in recent years. Mel says it's great to see a group of passionate fans giving the Vetch Field a send off to remember. Kevin Johns: Club Chaplain and life long Swans supporter. A colourful and well-known character whose enthusiasm for the project is second to none. Professor David Farmer: David saw his first game in the late 30's and has had many publications printed about the Swans, he is President of the club and is delighted to be a patron of the Vetch 1912-2005 group. Professor Peter Stead: Barry born Peter openly admits to watching Cardiff City with his father as a youngster, but saw the light on his first ever visit to the Vetch not long after, has been involved in many historical books on the Swans and is pleased to be helping out on this project. Peter carries a wealth of information that I'm sure we will call on for advice. Alan Curtis: A Vetch Field legend who is 100% behind the project, has been a familiar face at the Vetch for almost 35 years and can think of no more fitting a tribute to the Vetch than what this project aims to achieve.
