Swans Bid Turned Down

Wycombe Wanderers have turned down the derisory offer for captain Roger Johnson according to their official web site. The Evening Post over the weekend claimed that the bid made was £100,000 but this was instantly dismissed by the board at Wycombe as they looked to hang onto their captain

The statement on their official web site read: -

Wycombe Wanderers have rejected a £100,000offer from Swansea City for defender and captain, Roger Johnson, wwfc.com can reveal.

The Swans, who missed out on promotion to the Championship due toa Play Off Final defeat to Barnsley in May, tabledthe derisorybid for the 23 year old on Friday morningwhich was instantly turned down by the Board of Directors at the club.

Kenny Jackett had identifiedthe Blues skipperas his first summer target following the release of Roberto Martinez, attacking midfielder Adrain Forbes and'keeper Brian Murphy.

Rogerstill has a year left to run on his current contract at Adams Park and collectedthree Player Of The Season awards this term following his inspirational leadership throughout the campaign.

Steve Hayes told wwfc.com. "Roger is our captain. He's an extremely committed player and we want to keep him at the club."

Rumours are surfacing that Kenny Jackett is about to snare his first signing of the summer with several names being thrown into the fray on the various message boards including Darren Pratley, Marc Bircham and Johnson again.
