Michael Looks For Help From Wales
Saturday, 28th Sep 2013 13:30

You have to have a degree of sympathy for Michael Laudrup when he appeared to ask for help from Wales to ensure that Ashley Williams can get a rest that it seems he probably needs.

Ash has struggled to shake off an ankle injury in recent weeks and has missed some important games for the Swans in the last couple of weeks although he did feature at Crystal Palace last weekend.

And with a round of international matches coming up in just over a week's time it does seem as if Michael is looking for help from the FAW and Chris Coleman in looking after the captain of both club and country to ensure that both teams get the best out of him in the future.

Ash is a doubt for today's visit of Arsenal to the Liberty Stadium , Michael talked in his press conference about the player's welfare "I'm a little worried, but the problem with Ashley is he's an international," Laudrup said.

"We have to be careful, but I mean the national team as well.

"They [Wales] have to go and play two games [in a short space of time]. If he doesn't get that recovery he could bring this injury for a month,

"I would never ask a player to step down, not to play with his country but I think it's important in combination, club and national team, that we find a solution that can benefit all of us.

"There will be a moment I think where Ashley will need two weeks without a game."

That two weeks would be extremely handy if it could take place after next weekend's clash with Southampton which heralds the start of the next international break with the Swans having 13 days without a game until Sunderland visit the Liberty on 19th October.

Time will tell but a fit Ash is essential to our continued success.
