City Come From Behind
Sunday, 23rd Nov 2014 10:13

City came from behind to grab only their second win in seven games thanks to Yaya Toure’s second-half winner. Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony shocked the hosts by scoring inside of ten minutes to make it look like it was going to be a uphill struggle for the Citizens but Pellegrini demanded better and that was exactly what he got.

Wilfried Bony fresh from signing a new contract with the Welsh club this week, started the move himself with a short pass to Nathan Dyer.

The winger then completed the one-two with a lofted pass which was taken by Bony expertly on his chest before he unleashed a first-time, right-foot volley past the dive of Joe Hart.

The goal sparked City into life and the remainder of the first half belonged to the champions.

Indeed, it only took Pellegrini's team 10 minutes to draw level, through Jovetic with a simple goal that, for once, found gaps in Swansea's defending.

Navas was allowed to curl over a right-wing cross, despite the attention of two defenders in front of him, and Jovetic was unmarked inside the six-yard area to equalise with a comfortable finish.

The goal seemed to take something from Swansea as City seemed to then take control of the game. Swansea's Kyle Bartley was harshly booked for a touchline foul Aguero and then City players claimed the same defender delivered an off-the-ball elbow on the Argentinian. The ensuing altercation led referee Swarbrick to call both captains together to restore order.

Aguero had a shot blocked by keeper Lukasz Fabianski, who then produced a world-class save to deny full-back Gael Clichy. Sergio set up the Frenchman after a mazy run across goal and Clichy let fly from 30 yards, with Fabianski stretching every sinew to push the ball on to the upright.

City kept pushing for a winner and the breakthrough came when Toure combined with Fernandinho to finish low under Fabianski just past the hour mark.
