City Get It Right
Thursday, 11th Dec 2014 09:33

Last night City put in a masterful performance on their big night in Rome. They performed what some said was impossible. After being written of by many City went into the game needing a win or a score draw and the right result in the Bayern v CSKA fixture. The fact we were missing key players in Aguro,Toure and Kompany made the task ahead look even harder. But as the song go's "Were Man City,We fight to the end".

Early into the game play was briefly held up as Hart removed an object from the pitch which had apparently been thrown from the stands.

The Goalkeeper though was in outstanding form as City withstood plenty of pressure from the Italian side. City also had their moments in the first half, especially when James Milner twice forced sharp saves from Morgan De Sanctis.

Dzeko playing for the injured Aguero lacked conviction when he stabbed a shot over under pressure on the end of fine interplay between Nasri and Jesus Navas, and the latter then crossed for the Bosnia striker to glance wide in the 29th minute as City grew into the contest.

City were patient though and on the hour Samir Nasri fired a superb shot past Morgan De Sanctis and in off the keeper’s near post.

Roma now needing to score twice, came closest when Hart made another crucial intervention to push Kostas Manolas's header on to the post and Martin Demichelis blocked a shot on the line.

The Italian side poured forward which meant gaps started to appear at the back and when Nasri calmly rolled a pass into Zabaleta's path with four minutes left, the marauding right-back settled the issue.
