Lampard Injury Not Serious
Thursday, 22nd Jan 2015 09:18

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Frank Lampard's injury he sustained in the warm up for City's friendly against Hamburg in Abu Dhabi is not serious.

With just nine days until City are due to travel to table-toppers Chelsea, who lead Manuel Pellegrini’s side by five points in the title hunt, the 36-year-old faces a race against time to be fit.

The Chilean told Sky Sports: "Frank was injured in the warm-up. He felt some problem in his muscle but I don't think it will be very serious. We took him off just as a precaution. "I hope that he will be fit, not only for Chelsea, but for the FA Cup. "It was just a small problem, but he asked to try to play. After that he told us it was impossible but I don't think that it will be a very important injury and we hope that we can have him for Saturday."

Lampard scored when City played his former club Chelsea at Eastlands earlier in the season.

City won the friendly 2-0 with second half goals from Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko.
