This Is Why DCFC Can't Have Nice Things!
Wednesday, 28th Sep 2016 14:59 by Daniel J Sewart

Well that was another interesting 24 hours…. The Rams finally get things right on the pitch and all hell breaks loose off it.

The Rams won the day 1 v 2 over Cardiff, one of the toughest road trips of the season, that has historically slipped up Derby on more occasions than not.

Goals from Ince and Blackman (yes you read correctly) sealed the victory which lifts the Rams out of the bottom 3.

It was a fabulous turnaround from what we saw on the weekend and had the Rams on the front foot from the beginning, finally looking like they had found the groove that they had slipped out of.

Special mention to Max Lowe who came in for his league debut and looked like he had been doing it for years with an assured performance. Well done young man!

You would think that would be the steadying result the club needed, a result that would refocus the season and act as a pointer for the rest of the campaign.

You would think….!

Instead it was revealed before the match that Nigel Pearson has been suspended by the club and that Chris Powell would take the helm for the time being.

Rumours are flying around as to what led to both Pearson and Coach Inigo Idiakez being suspended by the club.

We won’t dip into those rumours but the stock standard ones have risen their head and only time will reveal the truth and unravel the new mess that the club has got itself into.

It's a shame that the Rams can’t have nice things. We seemed to have everything in place to succeed as a football club but ever since the controversial sacking of Nigel Clough, DCFC periodically lurches from one disaster to the next, just when we seem on the verge of something special.

I am not saying that Nigel would have done any better but considering he would have only had to match our current position in the Championship, really could he have done much worse? Especially with the substantial tools those entrusted with these roles have to work with? I can’t help but wonder...

Support for Chris Powell won’t be an issue as a former player and fan favourite — I can’t imagine supporters getting on his back too quickly, which frankly would be a pleasant change of pace.

All we can hope is this new drama unfolds in a positive way that will help the team on the field reach the potential that we all know they have.

At least we have a win to celebrate while we sit back and watch, as once again our beloved club does its best to tear itself apart.
