Brighton Tickets Sell Out
Thursday, 28th Sep 2017 11:17

Saints will be backed by 3,000 fans for their visit to the Amex Stadium for the first top flight South Coast derby with the Seagulls since 1982.

Saints will take their full allocation to the Amex Stadium next month after selling out over 3,000 tickets in three days to make it another bumper following on the road.

After over 1,500 to Huddersfield, almost 3,000 at Crystal Palace and a likely couple of thousand at Stoke City, the teams lack of goals so far this season hasn't diminshed the appetite of the travelling Saints supporters who will go along the M & A 27 in force.

They will be hoping for a repeat of the game in League One in April 2011 when two late goals gave Saints a 2-1 victory, although the following season in Brighton's first season in their new stadium it did not go as planned as the home side scored three times in the final 24 minutes after Rickie Lambert was sent off for retaliation in the 51st minute.

Back then the Amex only had a capacity of around 21,000, but now with the addition of a new tier as well as filling in corners of the ground it is now only slighty smaller than St Mary's with a capacity just under 31,000.

Whilst I appreciate that season ticket holders, because of the outlay they make should have some level of priority on tickets to other matches , I do believe that the club have got this wrong and in games like this where it is expected to be a big take up, at least 25% of the allocation should be reserved for members who have a certain level of purchase history or the priority period for season tickets holders to purchase on games like this should be 24 hours only before opening up to members with a certain level of purchase history.
