Tino Livramento Set To Be Out For 9 Months
Tuesday, 26th Apr 2022 14:35

According to media reports Tino Livramento is set to miss not only the rest of this season, but the rest of the year after suffering a cruciate ligament injury to his knee in the draw at Brighton.

The Mail online is reporting that Tino Livramento will be out until early 2023 after being stretchered off against Brighton after going down in an innocuous challenge with Brighton midfielder Enock Mwepu .

The Saints man went down straight away and waved for assistance with the referee being alerted to his predicament by Mwepu himself.

He was given oxygen on the pitch and was clearly in some distress as he was stretchered off the pitch shortly before the break.

First indications are that it is a serious injury and he is likely to undergo surgery once the swelling has subsided and that it will be an 8-9 month lay off meaning that he is not likely to return until January 2023.

That is not as long a break as it sounds in that although he will miss the last four games of this season, the summer break will mean that the first three months of his lay off will mainly be the close season, but with the World Cup in Quatar meaning that the Premier League will be suspended after 11th November and not resume until Boxing Day, that will mean in essence he will only miss the first three months of next season of the 8 or 9 months he is likely to be out.

Hopefully age will be on his side here and he will be a quick healer and be ready to return around Xmas.

Luckily we are well served in the full back positions, with Kyle Walker Peters and Yan Valery able to play at right back and on the left Romain Perraud & upcoming teenager Thierry Small contesting that position.

Livramento had a knee issue earlier in the season, but that was the other leg and that has sine recovered and was not affecting his game

I feared news like this. If it is true (I would want a better source than the Mail) then it is a dreadful shame for the lad. Let's hope Nick is right and he will be a quick healer.

Fingers crossed that the injury isn't as serious as the tabloid reports suggest. Sad end to an excellent first season and every supporter will be willing Tino to get fully fit, however long it may take, and back in the red and white shirt next season. All the best Tino.

Yes, it is extremely bad luck. However, with the best medical help he can make a good recovery. If things go well a great boost to the squad in the New Year.
Wish him all the best!

Gutted for the lad as regards his age it’s good he’s young & should heal quick but all them months out ain’t good for his progression

These used to be career ending injuries. Thankfully treatment has moved on so much that he should have every hope of making a full recovery. Just like JWP, I'm sure everyone is sending him positive vibes for his long recuperation.

Selfishly, luckily we are well covered at full back. Perhaps Thierry Small can now get some more game time.

Obviously very disappointing for Tino made a great start to his Prem. career with Saints and even got England U21 game time. He can look back on his season so far with a lot of pride and satisfaction and his enforced lay-off can only go to strengthen his mental attitude in anticipation of a healthy return.
As pointed out, there is a long break for the World Cup, with no Prem. games between 13th November and 26th December - so there is not a lot to miss.

Nick noted that we can expect to see KWP back at his normal right back spot, but Romain Perraud and Thierry Small won't be alone as LB options, as we may see Will Ferry or Jake Vokins back from their loan spells where they have both been getting rave reviews.
