Tight game. Dale looked like they were controlling it until Keane was sent off. A few players weren't at their best today whilst others, especially Kgosi played very well. Lapse of concentration in the 46th minute and a good quality goal at the death the only difference between the team's - May have been very different without Keane's sending off.

Amazingly open and at times end to end game. More entertainment in the first eight mins than we have seen in a long time. Some important covering by Ned early on, on another day we could have been in a spot more bother. Don't want to put a dampener on it though, a very good performance all 'round and a great start.

Midfield pressing, in particular was excellent kept winning the ball back and pushing forward. Top marks to Ollie for getting this selection spot on. Mackie, Washington and Wsolek just need to shoot/ cross a little quicker but that should come with confidence.

Boring game and 2 points dropped First half poor mainly because of Hills team selection. Davies enlivened things up when he came on but why take Rathbone off and leave Brown on - he is not good enough for this level
What has happened to our star signing ( Williams)?

A really solid performance, marred by some wayward finishing by the Saints. We moved the ball around well, with plenty of of the play switching from one side to the other. The higher pressing we employed from the first minute onwards, unsettled Swansea from playing from the back with any real effect . The were many turnarounds of play for Saints, due to this continual pressing, therefore preventing the Swansea players any time to get into a rhythm of any sorts.
Individually Jack Stephens continues to improve with each game, and as most fans are now realising is a class act. A promising start, and nine times of of ten we would have won comfortably.

Good start, enjoyable to watch. We look sharper and quicker than last season. Swansea looked poor and a class below us.

Tedious, scrappy affair spoilt by incessant stoppages for fouls, injuries and players squaring up to each other. What was obvious is that we do not have the players to work Pellegrino's preferred style of fast forward attacking play. We were outclassed in the air at the back and in their penalty area and for pace today and one or two players had stinkers.

Redmond was poor apart from his early assist that flattered to deceive, otherwise Zabaletta had him in his pocket all afternoon. How can he be preferred over Boufal is beyond me. Bertrand just couldn't be rrsed to get up to speed, in fact he looked hacked off all afternoon and clearly wasn't concentrating on his job for their first goal. Cedric was getting a right battering from the ex-Stoke thug who was sent off and didn't seem to settle after that.

Yoshida, Tadic and Romeu were our best and most determined players and Forster had a decent game.

Too much whistle from the ref who just seemed to want to intervene even on robust but otherwise fair tackles. The lino called the red card incident and both pens.

SaintBrock that's a fair description of the game and players performances. The only point is I saw no evidence of 'Pellegrinos preferred style of fast forward attacking'. That is maybe what the fans want to see but we saw a slow build-up again and again, sideways backwards and then exasperation as they face a perfectly organised defence.

Typical game against the hammers who lived up to their name. Noble should also have been sent off and we were lucky that Jack's hand ball wasn't penalised. Disappointed so far after 2 games with Redmond and Bertrand who are off the boil compared to last season. Gabby tries to find the gaps Cedric's shooting is dire and I wish we had a poacher like Fernandes. Can't see much evidence of high pressing game but some nice football played in the build up. All in all 6 out of ten so far. Interested in team selection for Wednesday.

An entertaining match that demonstrated the new character and determination of the team. There should be a score for the manager, as Ollie's substitutions were key to the result. I am not sure if they were planned or simply improvised, but they were effective and got the result. Well done to Ollie and the whole team.
