Good open game but again we throw away a lead that was disappointing. Some good performances from our defenders and a class goal yet again from Danny Ings.

I just feel so sorry for the team, they played with lots of spirit and were the better side. They must have been terribly dejected last night.
This right back issue has caused us a big problem. I' was never a Cedric fan and preferred Valery but with JWP injured we seem to have no-one. I would have preferred Yoshida at right back With JWP back in his normal position and the defence not messed around with by moving Jack Stephens to right back . However, Maya has left, almost criminal to release him.
The next game with injuries and bans will expose a new line up in defence and that sense of optimism is beginning to fade.
Finally what a brilliant goal by Ings and provided by Redmond, one of the best I have seen from a Saints team

I think the problem apart from a slightly dodgy defence, same in the 1960’s, is the lack of goals in the team. Has been the biggest problem for several years.
We have wingers and midfielders who offer little threat in terms of goals. Plus no defenders who score from set plays. Further we create loads of chances, enough to have beaten Liverpool and spurs by a good margin. We lack any kind of clinical edge or composure. What I have seen of shooting practice is kicking in from the edge of the area or dummies blocking the goal. Surely one should create realistic defence set ups for players to produce under real pressure .... oh oh back to not enough good defenders.

Still cannot come to terms with gifting the result against an uninspired spuds team. Regardless of the penalty the game should have been over by 70 mins. The look on Ings face when the equaliser went in spoke volumes 'WTF do I have to do to end up on the winning side'.

The fall out from this game is that we are without JWP possibly for the rest of the season, do not have a proven or match fit RB and lack cover in CB. Stephens has stepped up incredibly and has grown into the role of CB so to play him at RB for the rest of the season will be a massive loss.

Not many fans are happy with their boards activity but ours seem to be intent on taking unnecessary risk after unnecessary risk in order to save a few million quid. Ridiculous.

Romeu was utterly hopeless and was lazily ball watching and jogging instead of tackling and helping the CB's cover which is his job. Shouldn't be near a pitch.
The owners threw the match away with their naive use of the transfer surplus as usual. Will come home to roost now the injuries are staring to pick up. Never should have moved Cedric on or Yoshida or Sims or.......................................

We score 2 they score three and so it goes with our inability to defend for 90 minutes again, until we sought the middle of our defense which we have said for ever we will continue to suffer this way.

Whilst I hate VAR -and we're better off without it -why was it not employed properly?
Penalty needed clarification to say the least. Corner kicks (one each) wrong, so negates it's use here.
Anyone else see Che Adams booking after their lad poleaxed Nathan Redmond?
Similarly with Jan Bednarek.
The referee was poor, and seemed to be protecting /favouring the side from the metropolis!

The Referee spoilt a good game. He booked 4 of our players and only 1 of theirs plus he was biased to spurs all night. If he gave a penalty for Son diving then Bertrand should have had one also. Why did we not bring in any better defenders in January?
