Qpr v Top & Bottom - Upside Down Results
at 09:19 27 Oct 2024

What is this all about ??

Tbf I felt we had more chance getting a result away at Burnley than home to Portsmouth and it's not as if this is a new thing - we certainly been doing this last 10 years at least and beyond. Obviously also completely different set of players, managers, coaching staff and people in the board room too. Appreciate to a certain extent it happens everywhere, but we certainly have this to a tee.

Lose away at Vauxhall Motors - thrash Manchester United away

However if we get results in the next three, I will be amazed !!

But if we do !!!

You got one job. Press play after we score a goal.

Came on at a moment of no danger.

We thought it was a penalty and I think the guy with this particular task was trying to help.

It's incompetence like this at our great club that we need to get rid !!!!

Ilias tonight
at 23:25 22 Oct 2024

Was looking forward to the return of Ilias and even though results not happened, was interested to see how Ilias linked up with guys such as Saito Dembel Varane and Smyth.

I was hoping he would not try to do everything himself as he does have others around him that just as likely to find the key to the lock

But he played like he was last season ie not trusting his fellow players and taking a lot of.potshots from outside the area.

Hopefully he can introduce an element of team play to his next few appearances

Players performances v Coventry
at 22:14 22 Oct 2024

Varane looked decent

Smyth lively at the exact time he was taken off.

Field combative.

Dembele wasn't in the game.

Morgan played well on Saturday and again today. Great finish. Well done young man. Very impressed.

Saito at times is a menace and on occasions makes good defensive challenges too. Probably better with him on than Paal today.

Nardi kept us in the game and is excellent on one on one's.

Defence OK not that challenged apart from on the break when their collective lack of pace is a worry.

Celar - Get rid - Lloyd Frey and Kolli ahead of him for me.

The new players all seem to be extremely timid in manner and play.

Bottle out of challenges and easy to roll over.

To buy a few of these players, who do possess other qualities is absolutely fine provided there is a balance.

Zero players with a strong mentality.

Herein lies the problem

Nourry - How much power does this man have here ???
at 14:27 7 Oct 2024

He is 26, so young in corporate terms too.

Has he any football knowledge. Am not aware.

And yet he oversees recruitment as we been led to believe with Belk.

He not only is the CEO but has overseeing the DoF role, which previously was in the hands of a football man in Les.

The data is all well and good, but there are many elements to professional football and data only gets you so far.

Football nous is still a thing, clearly.

Reading between the lines, I am concerned that Cifuentes is not having a massive say on incoming and outgoing footballing staff. He is the guy with the knowledge and has impressed us with what he achieved last season here.

But Nourry saying we need stability of structure and then saying himself and Belk are the best to achieve this ongoing as coaches come and go. This to me is alarming.

I believe we have the right coach for the style we eventually want to achieve so why are Belk and Nourry seen as the long term stable going forward so we remain consistent in our style.

Seriously hope Cifuentes has a much greater role in player recruitment and retention than is currently seen.

Willock and Armstrong reluctant to sign new contracts and now it seems possibly reason Kolli not being picked as he upset the applecart by not signing a contract offered. And Dykes let go at last minute too with no replacement. Slightly concerning if these are all indeed what happened.

Especially if Cifuentes role is limited in this area. He is the one with the football brain not Nourry or Belk.

The recruitment this close season has definitely been very speculative ie who has had championship experience. It's a tough league and nothing like numerous European leagues. Much more combative and signings although skilful all look a little weak in terms of strength. But we can't blame the incoming players. These are their previous experiences. They have not experienced the championship.

But if it goes wrong and we in bottom three in January, it's Cifuentes that goes, not Belk or Nourry.

But we are meant to be happy because Belk and Nourry will be continuing with recruitment measured as to how we want to play.

Nourry has a lot of power. He is 26 and yes I know some people can be outstanding at an early age, we are not a normal corporate business , we are a football club.

Our director of football, much maligned was Les, but you can't say he did not have footballing experience to back up his judgements.

A lot of everyday jobs that we all do, are now recruited by AI. You show that you have a number of certificates and you get appointed above people with relevant experience these days.

It's beginning to look a bit like Richard Thompson - esque.....

On the face of it to me, this model does not look sustainable as we are relying on the main men who let's face it, probably didn't get picked in the first team when they were eleven years old at school, which in Nourrys case is not that long ago.

The fact that the first fans forum was almost entirely fielded by Nourry to me is a red flag.

I do hope to be proved wrong and actually now I am perhaps moving towards Clives way of thinking with the fact contracts of players not released.

Is it yet another way of control from the board room.

Am all for giving youth opportunities but we seem to have signed a massive amount of our football club to some young guy who has written all his new player write ups with the help of AI. Ie Nourry speak. That was obvious.

If it was my decision for the style of football to be retained, I would get rid of Nourry before Cifuentes if we were failing.

The announcement of Dembele's deal, Marti and Xavi's deals extended and JCS all seemed a smokescreen covering up things a little so the guy didn't get a bum deal at the fans forum.

Ie all could be let go anyhow if things turned.

The loss of Ben Williams the fitness guru whether it's related or not suddenly we picking up injuries in training again and to key players.

I watched the forum online and his answers to me were answers from people I have worked with in business, who say a lot but if you totally assess what they are saying basically they are speaking a lot of corporate speak because they want to impress but basically it's all total waffle so it doesn't show that they don't really know the subject they are talking about.

I hope I am wrong.

The style is led by Nourry and Belk long term.

Surely in game management which Cifuentes did last year, it's not being done this. I mean with being more adaptive in style . It's a question which I doubt this is not being allowed but again, slightly concerning if you read between the lines... it could be the case.

These are just my own thoughts obviously with zero knowledge of whether this is all true but it is how it seems to me.

Anyone else thinking along these lines ????

But if any have an eleven that have been abysmal for us.

Tony Roberts

Assou Ekottu, Chris Samba, Joel Lynch, Boswinga

Jordan Mutch,Leroy Fer, (first name??--Goss), Andre Dozzell

Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Frederico Macheda

Possibly Taylor Richards as super sub if he can be found within the building

Our best eleven and bench with this squad
at 00:24 6 Oct 2024

Team

Nardi

Paal JCS Cook Dunne

Field Colback

Dembele Chair Kolli

Lloyd

Subs

Walsh

Morrison Fox/Ashby

Varane/Dixon-Bonner Madsen/Andersen

Saito Celar/Frey Smyth

Would have Lloyd up front. Looks powerful and strong and runs at defence.
Can't understand why Kolli not in and around the squad. Again strong player, which is what we are lacking.

Only one of Madsen or Andersen in the squad and feel more to be offered from Madsen

Varane I like. Shame he got sent off but think again the potential is possible.

Saito is similar to Smyth but probably a better end ball.

Frey or Celar. Think Celar will be more help to the team, although it seems neither will hardly ever trouble the scorers.

Conceding Worldies - Can we stop this please ???

Definitely around at least five or six goals this season, volleys or long range shots connected perfectly by various opponents.

Is this unlucky or could there be some underlying reason, it's happening ??

Never known a run of games like it, with this particular delight present.

No more for a decent period of time Rangers please.

Is this just really bad luck ??

Paul Smyth - A shout out for Smythie !!!
at 01:27 23 Sep 2024

Thought would give the chap, his own thread.

Not bad enough to be highlighted out.

Not amazing enough likewise.

But apart from two seasons away, been here since he was 19, knocking on 27 now.

And always at least a squad player.

A very handy option off the bench due to his pace.

If only, he had the ability to look and think when hitting the final ball into the box, he would be more highly thought of.

Whether that's to do with ability or composure though, am not sure.

But reason for the thread being the guy has been here a long long time and every manager, no matter what their approach or whoever are their other options all have felt the guy is at the very least worth a place on the bench.

For me whatever his limitations, you know he performs and gives it his all.

He often goes under the radar here and is rarely highlighted negatively or positively on here.

Definitely for me a decent servant for our club. There have certainly been far far worse.

Been here many years and for me deserves a shout and praise for his efforts..

Good lad !!!

So many positives - yet a meltdown on here - dose of reality please
at 06:54 18 Sep 2024

Lets get some perspective here.

We had three centre backs injured. Our best player over the last few seasons has not played this season.

We played our new right back and from what I saw, he could easily oust Dunne from his place later this season.

The only two, I would say could have played if we were full strength tonight were Dembele and he came on for the entire second half and Frey who for me was rightly rested. Celar was ok but needs minutes as we only have two centre forwards.

Walsh in goal. Fine for me. Important also to give him a game. Maybe he could have done better with the Nketiah goal but was quick thinking from Eze that was more to blame and the centre forward that's been at Arsenal hit a strong finish.

It was a great atmosphere at the game. I am assuming that a lot of the negative comments are from people that weren't there.

Eze's goal had a huge slice of luck and as said still we almost scored at the death.

On another day we win this and all the negative comments would not be on here.

Some posts frankly embarrassing.

Last season not only were we losing most games but the quality of football was absolute garbage.

We seem to have made a lot of really excellent signings and the style of football is exciting.

We have in Marti, one of our most progressive managers for a long long time.

We have had games against three or four teams that likely to be in the top six and we are currently in the top half of the championship.

The two scorers for Palace, Nketiah cost £50 million, Eze valued at £70 million and they had the new England centre back, Guehi valued £60 million to beat and we created enough to win the game.

We are not Arsenal. We are not Liverpool. We are not even Crystal Palace.

We put in a spirited performance.

Some fans need to get real. Was a great night out and we deserved better. The support from the fans at the game, I felt was totally positive.

And yes, am assuming a lot of the negativity was from people that weren't there.

Some comments on here though last night from fans IMO were frankly embarrassing.

Fricking heck - get behind your team. Unfortunately we can't win every game but we gave it a good go and it was a spirited performance.

We are doing fine. We got a decent squad. Five subs is regular most games so it's a squad game now. And totally understand players all need minutes and we were far from a weakened team. Colback was not playing. Many were criticising our midfield at Wednesday and Colbacks red card in waiting has been mentioned also. He is also not the future.

But get real. We got rid of a lot of dross. The new boys are exciting to watch and our manager is a top top man.

If people are peed off with this after the dreadful fare under Ainsworth, only a year ago. Well basically you are never going to be happy supporting any teams QPR are able to put out.

Yes it's disappointing we did not get through and what would have been our best cup run for decades. As everyone knows we have been shocking in the cups for such a long time.

It's football. Sometimes you lose games you deserve to win. And excuse me but Palace at the end of last season were one of the more exciting teams in the league above and the gulf between the divisions is immense. All three promoted teams were relegated immediately last season. There is such a massive gap and yet you would not have known that last night.

Embarrassing posts from many that really should know better.

It was a decent performance.

Palace had international players throughout their team and squad and we gave them a game. Whatever the value of our team, we are still many slots down from the quality Palace possess.

On another night we go through. Lloyd a whisker away from scoring. A home grown player.

There are so many positives yet to be honest many posters last night were embarrassing and from a few that normally fair in their opinions.

It's football. We deserved better but it didn't happen. Yes it was not the outcome we wanted or deserved but so many positives and yet so many really negative comments.

That's my opinion but really !!!!

I am certainly NOT a happy clapper but if people can't be happy about superb progress.

Less than a season ago, we were heading for league one and total oblivion.

We were so poor that most of us, myself included, felt we were heading for many many years in the lower leagues.

If people can not see that and recognise the absolutely unbelievable progress we have made with am sure very small outlay, then you are supporting the wrong club.

As said the vibes from the crowd were mainly very positive on the night and perhaps a lot of posters with such negativity weren't there or it was just disappointment we didn't quite get over the line

So much better performance than Saturday also when according to some that was our full strength side.

A dose of reality needed from many on here. Last night on here was far from worthy of a message board melt down.

We go again on Saturday

Come on you Rrrs.

Seriously it's actually currently a good time to be an R. Although a stranger dropping by yesterday may have thought otherwise !@@@!!

VAR and goalmouth scramble
at 07:56 16 Sep 2024

You just know it would have found a foul by QPR in there somewhere.

And almost inevitable even if Rangers had been left to score that goal, it would immediately have been looked at it and it would have been looking at multiple incidents, multiple times - probably a delay of ninety minutes to review.

If ever there was an advert against VAR, this is it !!!

Football needs these mad moments !!!

It brings fans in as opposed to the clever technology that simply destroys moments such as this !!!

What a goal !!!

And guarantees Afie Lloyd an entry into Forever R's !!!

Pretty certain that is his first senior goal for QPR.

He has been one here that has gone under the radar a little bit ie Armstrong, Kelman, Kolli, probably all more hyped up.

But has done well in his moments preseason and games he has come on in.

90th minute sub.

Nice finish after all that hullabaloo.

He has been OK so far and another one like Varane that is acclimatising but great for him to be available and in an advanced position for Frey's pass and composure to slot home with two defenders closing in.

Brought in as a goal scoring midfielder and nice to see so many different goalscorers so far this season.

I have looked at most other championship clubs and their players have come from Southend, Blackburn, Sheffield United, Milton Keynes Don's, QPR, Reading etc.

And quite ironic at where our players have been shifted out to.

Anyhow you get the picture of what I am saying.

Appreciate a lot of what our recruitment is based on data analysis etc and we certainly have thrown our net out as far and wide as can be.

Some maybe Cifuentes recommendations, some Belks, guessing Nourry also, and it seems we have been at the very least very inventive, but so many players that really have zero experience of our leagues and also all young players and whether data can incorporate whether they settle in a foreign land such as ours also.

Would have imagined half our signings would have perhaps been premiership loans or signings from other EFL clubs, but for all of our signings to have exactly the same model ie young and basically from anywhere in the world, it seems quite risky.

And the fact all our outgoings have been sideways within the championship or to lower EFL or National League clubs or Scotland. Appreciate we would wish a few could be to higher ranked clubs but also we clearly not had any players that clubs from abroad have had any interest in either.

My own personal view would have to have had at least two or three from the English leagues. Ie no guarantees they will settle or perform in our leagues and enjoy living in London.

I can't see any other championship club that has done this.

I am hopeful but it seems an untried strategy.

I guess watch this space.
