Swans still in hunt for keeper Swansea boss Brian Flynn's search for a new goalkeeper continues after loan moves for Tony Pennock and Mark Walton fell through. Pennock's current club Farnborough are reluctant to allow the Swansea-born stopper to leave on loan, while Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence would only let third-choice Walton go out on a month-long deal. Roger Freestone is suspended for Saturday's home clash with Wrexham, while he is also struggling with a back problem aggravated in last weekend's defeat at Hartlepool. It leaves the Swans desperately short of goalkeeping options, but the club remain confident a new face will be between the posts for the visit of the Dragons. A spokesman said: "Tony Pennock will not be coming and Walton is a no-go, but we do need someone in before Saturday's game." |

Flynn denies Pennock link Swansea City manager Brian Flynn has denied reports that he is on the verge of signing Farnborough Town keeper Tony Pennock. The Swans boss is keen to sign a replacement keeper for injured regular Roger Freestone but, despite reports to the contrary, Flynn is adamant that he is not about to sign Pennock. "I've spoken to Farnborough about the possibility of us signing Tony, the same as I've spoken to numerous clubs over the last ten days," Flynn told the club's official website. "There was never a possibility of us completing a permanent deal but we did enquire about taking him on loan, something that they wouldn't agree to. "I think the fact that he has started training with us on Monday has clouded the issue a little. That's just a case of us helping him out as the situation at Farnborough is a little unclear at present." |
