At last! A coach who knows (and cares) about our club!

Good luck to Neil Redfearn as he becomes the new Leeds United head-coach.

It seemed no coincidence that Neil Redfearn was sat alongside Massimo Cellino in the East Stand to witness our dismal collapse against Wolves on Saturday.

Just 90 minutes later, the job was all his at last.

It's been a long time coming for the Dewsbury born Leeds supporting lad, who never actually pulled on the white shirt during his illustrious career.

However Redfearn was entrusted with the Youth Academy since 2008 and has struck a rich seam of talent including Sam Byram, Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt.

That role has been interrupted on four occasions to take caretaker charge of a club which to call unstable would be a compliment.

Firstly Redders assumed control in February 2012 when Ken Bates fired Simon Grayson. Redder's won two and lost two but with Bates's secretly priming the club for sale, a big name was warranted and Neil Warnock was the preferred choice despite Redders throwing his hat into the ring.

After Warnock's largely uninspiring 14 month tenure, Leeds again asked Redfearn to take charge but with us flirting with relegation it was merely a case of keeping the seat warm for Brian McDermott.

Redfearn again took charge when Leeds destroyed Huddersfield 5-1 when McDermott was infamously fired then reinstated in a emotion packed day at Elland Road last February.

The next caretaker opportunity came when hapless Dave Hockaday paid the price with just two wins in six games. Redfearn seemed to be a decent candidate for the job having won 10 points out of a possible 12 and remaining unbeaten but Cellino appointed Darko Milanic.

Just 32 days later, Cellino appears to realise the error of his ways and Redfearn finally gets his chance to coach the club he knows so well and cares about, providing Señor Cellino lets him do his job!
