Creepy Cawley won't scare off investors-report

The actions of thug Aaron Cawley will not deter GFH Capital from concluding the takeover, so says Sportsmail.

The Mail report this morning that the Bahrain-based company still wish to complete the takeover, despite the shameful scenes on Friday night including convicted thug Aaron Cawley entering the pitch and shoving Sheffiekd Wednesday keeper Chris Kirkland in the face.

Cawley, 21 has since been jailed four sixteen weeks and banned for life from Elland Road.

In his programme notes and pre-match address prior to Tuesday night's shocking draw with Charlton, Ken Bates claimed he hadn't heard from GFH since a teleconference approximately a fortnight ago and admitted he was concerned what the investors would think when seeing Cawley's disgraceful actions which were witnessed around the globe.

GFH's David Haigh, who is tipped to suceed Bates as Chairman by many was quoted (or misquoted?) as likening Leeds to a "young Pamela Anderson" and saying the deal should be done in three-weeks time. That was just over a fortnight ago and at the time I said if this was the case, GFH capital should have the keys to Elland Road in time for the visit of Southampton in the Capital One cup next week.

It is a sign of the times these days at Elland Road that who is sitting in the Directors Box is almost as eagerly anticipated as Neil Warnock's team-sheet. All eyes will be on the East Stand Upper for Birmingham's visit on Saturday to see if Mr Haigh and his colleagues are present with Bates confirming that GFH have pumped £2m upfront into the club.

Most fans are sick to the back teeth of this saga which has now rumbled on for over five months and the bizarre vague, mixed messages that have come out of the club and from the investors. The complications over whether or not the £52m figure reported to buy Leeds includes the stadium and Thorp Arch, whether or not GFH have the funds to complete the deal and will the transaction be vetted by Islamic Scholars in accordance with Sharia Law have all contributed to a saga that can only take place at Leeds 11!

However with crowds dwindling even further owing to the dissatisfaction with Bates' chairmanship and the manager calling for more cash to dip into the emergency loan market, the faint hope that the deal will be done before the end of the month is something we are clinging to like a comfort blanket.
