Is the win for Saints the springboard for the season ?

A few weeks ago the win at Derby County was hailed as the start of the Saints revival and as we know it just didnt materialise, but has the win at Doncaster Rovers now given Saints the confidence to kick on and banish relegation trouble from the mix.

The stark answer is that this division is so close that a few wins either way wont for make much difference, as last season teams that look safe at Xmas can get dragged into the fray, whilst those who look relegation fodder can start to push towards the play offs. How close it is can be shown by Cardiff City, three points above us and one below a play of spot, they are in reality seperated from us purely by that injury time goal on the opening day, without that we would be level pegging.

However it has to be said that for the first time this season Saints are starting to put an unbeaten run together, at the time the results against Barnsley and ipswich looked disapointing, but they were the start of Saints confidence returning in the leagueand on Tuesday night if we can get our first league home win of the season then it could push Saints right up the table.

In truth at this moment in time Saints arent good enough to go unbeaten for too long, the nature of the situation and our squad is that we are likely to lose as many as we win, however we do have a spirit about the side, as shown on Saturday that means that we are capable of winning our fair share and that being the case we have the capabilities of pulling clear of the relegation pack.

What the kids need now is to be able to build on the last three games, not just on the pitch but off it, on Saturday the supporters were magnificent, they kept behind the team for the duration of the match and the players showed how much they cared at the end, On Tuesday night it needs more of the same, it doesnt matter how many are in the ground, everyone needs to get behind the side and stay behind them, the fans did that against Ipswich and were the twelfth man and the team rallied when it would have been easier to collapse.

One swallow doesnt make a summer and one win at Doncaster doesnt constitute a revival, however every unbeaten run has to start somewhere and now we have three on the bounce unbeaten in the league, if we can make it four and chalk up our first home win in the process, then things are finally starting to move forwards.
