Feeney Out To Prove Doubters Wrong

Feeney Out To Prove Cardiff Wrong

Warren Feeney has said that he intends to use his time at Swansea to prove Cardiff manager Davie Jones wrong and force his way back into the plans at Ninian Park.

Feeney is on a three month long loan at the Liberty Stadium and made his first start in yesterday's disappointing 0-0 draw with Brighton. Despite being subbed during the second half he believes that he can do enough at Swansea to force his way back into the first team at Cardiff and he most definitely has not ruled out the idea of going back.

Speaking in today's News of the World, Feeney said "I scored goals for Bournemouth and Stockport earlier in my career.

"I don't feel that I've got anything to prove to anyone. All I need is a decent run in the first team - that's how I'll get back to knocking in goals.

"It's hard to do anything when you're in and out of the side all the time. I know some people are saying I'm a striker who doesn't score.

"They can say what they want because it doesn't bother me. They're entitled to their opinion.

"But they should look at my record for Bournemouth and Stockport. Looking back, perhaps I needed an early goal at Cardiff but that didn't happen. I'm looking to get off to a flyer with Swansea and helping them win promotion. I really want to do well for the Swans and put a few thoughts into people's heads.

"If I do the business here then something is bound to happen for me when the loan ends. I signed a three-year contract with Cardiff and I haven't ruled out going back.

"Swansea is a great opportunity for me and I'm looking to get a run of games. I haven't scored for a while but I feel once I get that next goal I'll go on a roll. You need a decent run in the first team to show people what you can do.

"At Luton I picked up a few injuries and it was stop-start, then I was in and out of the side at Ninian Park. You just can't show what you can do in two games. You need six to eight weeks to get going. As soon as Robbie (Fowler) and Jimmy (Floyd Hasselbaink) arrived I knew I wasn't going to play at Cardiff.

"I want to get my confidence back - that's why I decided to go to Swansea. I've settled nicely at the club in the last few weeks and I like the way the manager wants to play the game."
