Swansea City will send a sympathy wreath for the funeral of Hartlepool midfielder Michael Maidens who died in a car crash on Friday evening.
Director David Morgan confirmed the gesture following the postponement of the game between the two sides on Saturday - a cancellation that was announced soon after news of the tragedy broke.
The club immediately sent three representatives to see the Hartlepool squad once they were aware of the situation - management team Roberto Martinez and Graeme Jones were joined by Kevin Johns - the club chaplain.
Morgan said "I think it was greatly appreciated by their manager that our club chaplain went to speak to them.
"Kev has put them in contact with people in their neck of the woods who may be able to help them.
"The club will be sending a wreath to the funeral."
Kevin himself said "I just popped down to offer condolences to the Hartlepool folk and see if there was anything I could do
"I offered support on behalf of Swansea City FC.
"I had a little chat and found out a bit more about the lad, who was a wonderful fella.
"I understand he was a top man."
Hartlepool United have opened a book of condolence for Maidens for anyone wishing to pass on memories, thoughts or just sympathy - you can contribute to the book by sending them an e-mail here
