Kinsella Charlton Can Beat Swansea

Charlton assistant manager Mark Kinsella has insisted that an in form Swansea City side are beatable.

The London side are fighting for their league survival at the foot of the championship table and with games fast running out to claw themselves out of the relegation zone some may say that the Irishman's words may be fruitless but nevertheless 36 year old is stern in his unwavering belief that The Valley club can overcome league position and take all three valuable points away from the Swans as he told the clubs official site , he said “They're beatable and we're going to try and put in a good performance for our fans. I believe we've got a good contingent going down and we want to put in a good display for them. I remember playing against Martinez in the early 1990s and he played in a similar style to how he's got his team playing now. “

This season Swansea have sent shock waves throughout the championship with a free flowing brand of exiting football but the challenges posed by the Liberty Stadium club will incur a different mental approach from Phil Parkinson's side as Kinsella concedes "We won't have come up against a team like Swansea in the last few weeks, so it's going to be a different sort of game for us mentally. Hopefully we'll get the result. The pitch will be lovely on Saturday and it's a great set-up at the Liberty Stadium. Is it a free game for us? Everyone in the country will be expecting us to get beaten, but we're going there with a different attitude and our performances over the last couple of weeks have been good.”

He added “The promoted teams always seem to do well in their first season, as Colchester United did a few seasons ago. They're the surprise package; no one knows too much about them.”

Leaving no stone unturned Kinsella and co have been busy scouting Swansea for weaknesses but even the 2-0 loss to Watford which the former Colchester United man and Phil Chapple attended did not seem to waver their belief that the South Wales side are the best footballing side in the division as he alluded to “ Myself and Phil Chapple went to see them play at Watford where the pitch was in a terrible state and they still tried to play on it. They ended up losing the game 2-0, which didn't do us any good. They're the best footballing team in the league, they play one way and that's total football - very rarely do they go long.”

Not surprisingly Kinsella has targeted strike ace Jason Scotland as the main threat to Robert Elliot's goal but has warned Swansea that the Charlton players will be ready to face anything the Swans throw at them, he adds “Scotland is their main goal threat but they've got width across the midfield and they've got a back four that play. We've worked on them this week and we all go there knowing every detail about Swansea and the way they play."

"Hopefully come 3pm on Saturday we can put that plan into action as they've got strength all over the place and we need to make sure we're ready.”
