Middlesbrough fell to a 3-2 defeat against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Teessiders looked like the dominant force in the first period as Marvin Johnson slotted home neatly early on.

Britt Assombalonga and Marcus Tavernier both had excellent chances, but it was Huddersfield who capitalised before the break as Carel Eiting and then Fraizer Campbell turned the game on its head before the break.

Marcus Bettinelli - 5
Had a hand in both goals conceded in the first half. Too slow in coming off his line which put the team under pressure.

Anfernee Dijksteel - 6
Sloppy in possession and allowed Huddersfield to cause problems down the flank. One of many to underperform

Dael Fry - 7
Looked strong in defence for long spells. One of the few to come away with any defensive credit.

Paddy McNair - 5
Switched off defensively in the first half leading to Huddersfield’s second goal. Did put some wonderful balls into the area which put Huddersfield under pressure.

Marc Bola -7
Was a threat going forward as he linked up with Marvin Johnson. Put in some good challenges at key times.

Djed Spence - 5
Anonymous for most of the game apart from one decent run in the second half.

Jonny Howson - 6
A little bit slow at closing down Koroma for Huddersfield’s first. Off the pace and sloppy in possession.

Marcus Tavernier - 7
Had a good game. Linked up well with Marvin Johnson and Britt Assombalonga and could have scored himself. Unfortunate to be taken off.

George Saville - 5
Responsible for losing possession for Huddersfield’s second goal. Not at the level he’s shown this season.

Marvin Johnson - 7
Had a really good first half and took his goal well. A bit quieter in the second period but generally did well.

Britt Assombalonga - 6
Played well and caused lots of problems for Huddersfield’s defence. Missed two absolute sitters which will unfortunately overshadow a generally good display despite scoring a late penalty.

Chuba Akpom - 5

Didn't cause Huddersfield any real problems after his introduction. Will be disappointed with him impact.

Duncan Watmore - N/A

Not on long enough to impact the game.

Played one decent pass but not really on long enough to help the team.
