Middlesbrough player ratings vs Norwich City
Saturday, 30th Jan 2021 14:34 by Phil Spencer

Neil Warnock will be thrilled with the performance of his Middlesbrough team.

While a 0-0 draw with Norwich City doesn't sound too impressive, there's little doubt that this was a point gained for the Boro boys.

The first half was as typical a Neil Warnock display as you're likely to see as the Teessiders worked tirelessly to stifle the league leaders.

Micdlesbrough came into the game a bit more in the second period and caused plenty of problems for the hosts, but a stalemate was the result on an encouraging afternoon for the visitors.

Here's how we rated Neil Warnock's side.

Marcus Bettinelli —6
Looked a little bit nervy with balls into the box but held his own as the game went on. Rarely tested.

Darnell Fisher-8
Tasked with man-marking Todd Cantwell and did a very good job. An assured debut from a player who looks tailor-made to thrive under Neil Warnock.

Dael Fry —8
Great to see the defender back in action after last week. Certainly didn't appear shaken as he continually battled Teemu Pukki.

Paddy McNair —7
Brought the ball out of defence well and put some excellent balls into the box from set pieces.

Marc Bola —7
Had a decent game as he kept Emi Buendia quiet on the left side. Moved forward and played his role to perfection.

Sam Morsy —7
Got stuck in to Norwich's midfield in a typical display.

George Saville —8.
Enjoyed the battle with Mario Vrancic and looked strong in the middle of the park.

Jonny Howson —8
Looked more like himself after a shaky performances midweek. Passed well and pressed hard to give the hosts no time on the ball.

Djed Spence —7
Looked much more motivated than in recent weeks. Caused problems with his direct running but just lacked that bit of quality in his final ball. Appeared much more comfortable in a defensive winger-type role.

Marvin Johnson —7
Worked hard and got himself into dangerous positions as he looked to supplement Middlesbrough's attack.

Yannick Bolaise—7
Looked isolated for long spells but caused problems with his pace and movement. Had a couple of half-chances and will be relatively pleased with his first match in almost a year.
