Fan letter: Middlesbrough supporters are itching to get back to the Riverside
Fan letter: Middlesbrough supporters are itching to get back to the Riverside

The lack of live football is hard not just for us Middlesbrough fans but fans everywhere.

The Covid-19 pandemic means that football matches has to be played behind closed doors in the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two and the two biggest competitions in the world like the Champions League and Europa League.

Its hard for fans because we work or go to school Monday-Friday and we look forward to going to the match on a weekend - whether that is a home or away match we look forward to going to the pub with family and friends have a few drinks, go to the match enjoy your team winning and then look forward to travel back to your home but unfortunately this season and the end of last season that hasn't been able to happen.

That means watching it in your house which means that the stadiums are losing money on tickets, food and drink, memorabilia, getting your shirts home and away tops for yourself and your children so you have to spend money to watch it on the internet or on Sky Sports.

If someone said that you wouldn’t be able to watch the team you love because of an global pandemic I would have laughed at you but hopefully we can get back to the football soon.

Hopefully we can get back to the Riverside just like we did with the Bournemouth game when 2,000 people attended before getting back to some sort of normality.

All we want to do on a weekend is go to the pub have a few drinks and watch the football so hopefully in a few months time we can get back to normal and see the team that we all love once again.
