Norwich City is currently enjoying an unbroken run of four games without defeat. Alas, they are also on a run of five without a win.
Cause for alarm? Not yet. Lying in 8th place in the table in comparions to being in League One, Paul Lambert has brought Norwich City a long way since he came in as manager.
Looking back over the last few years, in fact, is there any surprise that Norwich supporters have higher hopes than the club would like us to have?
Not too long ago it was suggested that relegation to League One was just what Norwich needed. It seemed as though even the Board of Directors was complacently content with a mid Championship table existence and supporters might as well get used to the fact that the Premiership was only a place to "have fun", as our celebrity chef owner, Delia Smith once announced.
Then the embarrassment of that first League One game, when Paul Lambert's Colchester United came to Carrow Road and mpped the floor with us, leaving us smarting over our heaviest ever defeat, 1-7.
Change of managers, Bryan Gunn out and Paul Lambert in, and a change of mental attitude. Norwich started winning games with five goals to their credit in three games, the best of which was the return fixture against Colchester, three with four goals and eight game with three goals.
Confidenece was high and Norwich were promoted at the first time of asking, and confidence remained high. Despite pleas from Paul Lambert and Club officials for supporters not to get carried away, nothing is going to stop this feelgood factor after so many seasons where attainment fell way short of expectations.
The players must take considerable credit, as well. Every one of them seems to have set his sights on a play-off berth and a trip to Wembley.
So this five-game run of not winning? It is also five games since a loss. And doesn't every football manager like to tell us that football is not a sprint, it is a marathon?
Well, if it is a marathon, perhaps City are just hitting the first pain barrier and will carry on running to come through it very soon.
Besides, the anticipation of the next game is welcomed, once again. As opposed to going to games and expecting a defeat.
