Norwich City versus Ipswich Town

Here it is, after a break of one season, the local derby is back on. Of every game in every season, this one is THE game to win. (BBC1 1pm)

Ipswich Town are coming to Carrow Road for the police-arranged fixture of a Sunday lunch time. Instead of roast beef and Yorkshire Puddings it will be a pig's bladder and 22 men kicking it.

For manager's Paul Lambert and Roy Keane, this will be their baptism. Both managers speak of their wonder at the enthusiasm shown by respective supporters for their club but, as Al Jolson said, "[they] ain't seen nothing yet."

This one game decides the bragging rights to the best team in East Anglia. Other clubs in the region just don't enter into it. This is just between Norwich and Ipswich.

On the Norwich side, Chris Martin, Wes Hoolahan, Simon Lappin and Adam Drury have faced the Suffolk side on the field of battle. Although Adam Drury still looks doubtful to be fit in time for the match, Chrissy Martin and Wes Hoolahan take 9 goals (in all competitions) into the game.

Ipswich manager, Roy Keane has obviously looked at the Norwich record for letting poor performers go away with a victory under their belts.

Keane said: “Hopefully it’s a good game for us to try and bounce back. It’s away from home and it’s a derby and we’ve watched enough games to know they’re hard to predict and that in a sense your form goes out the window.

“That might be a good thing because our form over the last three games, despite the effort having been fine, has seen us lose games."

No City supporter needs reminding about the likes of Hull, Leicester or Crystal Palace. It is unthinkable that Ipswich could come and put their record to rights at our expense.

The players will be told to look upon the Ipswich game as just one more to put to bed, hopefully with the points all coming our way. All we can hope for is that the likes of Adam Drury, season ticket holder, Darren Huckerby and BBC Radio Norfolk pundit Neil Adams can speak to them and let them know exactly how much this game means to all of us.

Then, maybe, we can go home to our re-heated Sunday roast with a satisfied smile on our faces.
