Diamonds Trump Cards? 00:41 - Oct 25 with 11138 viewsMutzNutZ

Paul Lambert favours the diamond formation and plays it almost without fail.

The last person that relied upon the diamond was Nigel Worthington. When he started to use it we had been ignominiously chucked out of the Premier League after what must be one of the most embarrassing shows in our history, when hardly a single player appeared to care that Fulham were embarrassing us with 6 goals to nil.

Without going too deeply into the evidence at the time, Worthington must have realised that the diamond formation cut no ice at the higher levels.

Up to now City has been fortunate. For one thing, the players are determined to ride to the Premiership with Norwich, so keep winning games, or putting up a dogged fight against the higher-placed teams.

The question is, are you confident that Paul Lambert can succeed where more experienced managers have failed, or should he spend more time in developing another tactic. Not necessarily 4-4-2; maybe you can come up with something new and different.

I mean, what about the old style? 3-5-2?

Have your say.
