Time After Time Norwich City Strike Again

With a goal in the 94th minute, Grant Holt added to Henri Lansbury's opener to send Reading home broken Harte-ed, despite an earlier equaliser from Shane Long.

There was a point to be made as the Royals ran out onto the pitch at Carrow Road.

The previous encounter in November saw City concede three goals to let Reading steal a point from the game that was stolen from Norwich by bad refereeing.

Michael Oliver had sent Grant Holt off for a late tackle on Ian Harte who, it must be said, deserved an Oscar for the way he feigned injury to con the ref.

Needless to say, Harte enjoyed a welcome usually reserved for Ipswich players, past and present.

Reading's Turkish player, Jem Kkaracan who saw red this time, for a foul on David Fox that would have involved the spectators had there been no Football Grounds Act keeping them in place. The players all faced up to one another, though.

Will that fracas be included in the referee's report? The fact that his assistant in front of the Lower Barclay was hit by an object that is alleged to have been thrown from Block E will for sure. And, according to Joe Ferrari, Club Press Officer, the police have identified a man and are conducting enquiries.

Reading quickly recognised a weakness in Elliot Ward, outpaced every time by Jimmy Kebe, fully exploited when Kebe passed into the path of Shane Long who cancelled out Henri Lansbury's 16th minute goal just 10 minutes later.

Reading manager Brian McDermott might have had some reason to claim a dead cert penalty was not given, just after the second half got underway, but there was so much about this game that served up a dish of revenge that got warmer and warmer as the game progressed. At the Madjeski Korey Smith was taken down by a tackle deserving a red in itself, but Michael Oliver felt it never warranted a yellow, even.

As they say in football, what comes around goes around. City were denied two points in November. They took them back with some style on Saturday.
