Leon Barnett For Scan
Leon Barnett For Scan
Monday, 14th Feb 2011 12:50

Norwich City centre half, Leon Barnett is set to undergo a scan today to assess the damage to his left hamstring.

Barnett was in a chase with Reading's Shane Long in the 79th minute when he pulled up clutching his left thigh.

With just two left-sided players in the centr-half position Paul Lambert is considering the emergency loan option. A solution that spells farewell to Jens Berthel Askou.

The Danish player has one game left on his loan spell with Milwall, where he earned a red card on his debut. When you manager would rather spend money on a loan player instead of recalling a player already under contract, that player will realise that he might as well start looking for another club.

It is a Cinderalla story in reverse for Askou, turned up to train and impressed Brian Gunn enough to earn a contract. Askou was doing a good job until injury took him out of the action, and he has struggled to get his game back when he has returned for Paul Lambert.

As for Barnett, the way he pulled up suggests weeks rather than days. at least 25,000 fingers are crossed as we await the result of the scan.
