The Need For A Winning Home Performance
The Need For A Winning Home Performance

Saturday's results are in and, with the exception of QPR, the pack about us managed one point at most, while Swansea is now there for the taking

With a game in hand, against Bristol City on the telly on Monday at Carrow Road, Norwich City remains in third spot. Both Leeds United and Notts Forest could only manage a draw, goalless at that, while Swansea stumbled to a 2-1 defeat by the Rams at Pride Park.

Debates as to why Norwich City seem unable to reproduce their away form in Fortress Carra go on. The fact remains that, just like the BBC cameras demonstrated to the television-viewing masses that we can hand out the odd good hiding at Carrow Road, in this instance to our neighbours down the A140, the Canaries must use the Sky cameras to let the likes of Manchester United know that Norwich City is coming back. Just as we promised in 2005.

Of course, Cardiff City host Barnsley in the Welsh capital tomorrow, where a win would put them one point ahead of us, emphasising the importance of the Bristol match to those of the Yellow Army with eyes set on the big prize and eggs gradually being placed in just the one basket.

The pressure will be on the players - they will have worked out just where they stand after today's results. It is absolutley essential, therefore, for the supporters that normally allow the nerves get to them just as much as the players, must cast them aside and get behind the boys right from the off.

With luck, we can send the scrumpy-swillers back to "Bursell" with a similar scoreline as we sent their tractor-driving cousins home with last November.

The big prize is, as if anybody needs telling, the second automatic promotion place. Can we go top of the League at Portman Road? Where is there a better place to do it?
