LFW Travel Guides — Tottenham, White Hart Lane, with tube closures
Thursday, 27th Oct 2011 00:32 by Clive Whittingham

QPR face their second London derby in as many games this Sunday with a trip north to Tottenham. Here are the usual travel and drinking tips for the travelling faithful.

Capacity: 36,214

Address: Bill Nicholson Way, 748 High Rd, Tottenham, London, N17 0AP

Main Telephone: 0844 499 5000

Box Office: 0844 844 0102

By Car

Assuming you are coming from out of town (if you’re not then why are you taking the car?) then take the M25 to junction 25 and then the A10 towards Enfield until it reaches the North Circular A406. Turn right into Fore Road A1010 which then becomes the Tottenham High Road which runs past the ground.

Parking

Basically, you’ll be lucky to find any within a mile of the ground. The local residents are kept happy with a stringent, blanket ban on visitor parking on matchdays so unless you live nearby or have a blue badge forget it. The ground guide states that some local businesses have taken advantage of this by charging up to £15 a car for the use of their facilities. The Harringey Irish Club opposite White Hart Lane station offers parking for £10. Pay very close attention to road signs if you are trying to park nearby, otherwise the old advice for London games about parking further afield and using public transport applies. All other suggestions from people with local knowledge would be welcome via the comment facility below or at loftforwords@yahoo.co.uk

Train

Trains run every ten minutes from Liverpool Street to White Hart Lane, in fact National Express actually lay on extra services on matchday. The journey time is 22 minutes and the cost is £5.80 return. The nearest tube station is Seven Sisters on the Victoria Line, which is open and running without problems this weekend. This is estimated to be a 15-20 minute walk up the Tottenham High Road to the ground – if you can’t face it then try buses 149, 249, 279 and 349 up the road and past the ground.

This weekend’s tube and train closures are as follows:

- The Circle Line is completely closed.

- The District Line is closed between Embankment and Aldgate East, and Edgware Road and High Street Kensington.

- Hammersmith and City Line suspended between Baker Street and Royal Oak.

- There is no service on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line north of Camden Town until 0830 southbound and 0900 northbound.

- The Waterloo and City Line is closed.

- There are extensive closures on the Docklands Light Railway. It’s closed from Bank/Tower right down to Lewisham, and heading north from Poplar to Stratford. Replacement bus services operate.

- There are two sets of closures on the Overground. There is no service between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction, and from New Cross Gate to West Croydon and Crystal Palace and Sydenham.

- National Express East Anglia have laid on extra trains from Liverpool Street to White Hart Lane and Northumberland Park for this game. West Anglia services to and from Stratford have been diverted via Liverpool Street all day.

Coach

As per usual for London matches, no official or supporter club coaches running for this one.

Drink

As ever with a London game everybody will probably do their own thing, and may well choose to drink in town. With the ground accessible through the Victoria Line the establishments around Kings Cross and St Pancras could be a decent bet, although I expect most going by train to use Liverpool Street and therefore any of the several pubs around there. The Harringey Irish Club opposite White Hart Lane station is the away fans haunt nearer the ground. Other recommendations can be found here.

Tickets

QPR have sold out all 3,000 of their tickets for this match. This match is all ticket, with no tickets available for sale on the day.
