Scott started his career at Charlton Athletic before moving to Peterborough in July 1995. After loan spells at Colchester and Cambridge, he made a £50000 move to Leyton Orient, before moving to his hometown club for £70000 in 1997.

In a three and a half year spell at Underhill, McGleish scored 41 goals in over 100 games. He then moved back to Colchester where he spent another three and a half years, scoring over 40 goals here as well.

He moved to Sixfields in 2004 and made his debut in our 2-0 loss at the Vetch. Last season he scored 17 goals in the league to help the Cobblers win promotion.
