There has never been any doubt that Swansea wanted their man but refused - and rightly so - to be drawn into a bidding war with Hull who at one stage wanted £500,000 for the man they paid just half that for.

The fee could rise to £250,000 dependent on the clauses in the contract but represents good business for the Swans after a successful loan spell at the end of last season

Early last week it was announced by Hull that a fee had been agreed for the striker but nothing came from Swansea leading everyone to assume that the deal may have been dependent on Pawel Abbott's departure to Darlington - something that was confirmed after the striker passed a medical yesterday.

Duffy joins Bussy, Jason Scotland and Lee Trundle as an attractive looking forward line for the new season at the Liberty and along with Bussy, Scotland, De Vries, Rangel, Collins, Bodde and Anderson makes it a productive summer for the club and one that we hope will reap benefits in the months to come.

Speaking via the official site at swanseacity.net Duffy said

"I'm absolutely delighted it's finally completed,'' declared Duffy. "It's certainly dragged on - nine weeks in fact.

"There were stages when I thought the move was dead and buried; then I'd be given renewed hope that it was back on again.

"But when Hull told me I was going with them to Italy for pre-season, I was convinced that was it for Swansea. Then all of a sudden I was flying back to Swansea to sign the deal.

"All the travelling has been hard, but well worth it. I don't think I made any secret of the fact that I wanted to make my move to Swansea permanent.

"I felt my time was up at Hull because I just wasn't playing first team football on a regular basis. But coming to Swansea last season gave me a massive lift. I had forgotten what it was like to play regular football and the goals were an added bonus - fantastic.''
