Wilson Sends Thanks To Swans

Wilsons Thanks To Swans

Danny Wilson has sent a vote of thanks to Swansea for their understanding in calling off Saturday's fixture following the tragic death of Michael Maidens.

The Swans agreed at short notice to cancel the fixture after the news broke midway through the morning and they also understood when Hartlepool were not ready to complete the fixture on Tuesday evening.

Speaking yesterday, Wilson said "Swansea were fantastic from start to finish.

"They were very supportive from the moment they heard the news to when they agreed not to play the game.

"They were exceptional from the management to the secretary, as well as South Wales Police.

"Nothing was too much of a problem for them.

"It was likewise with the rearranged game. They had wanted to try to play this week but we felt that was too early and we eventually agreed on November 27.

"They have been terrific."

Hartlepool will hold a minute's silence before their home game with Brighton on Saturday, while all their players will have Maidens's name on the back of their shirts.

"Not only was he a very good footballer, he was a fantastic boy and our thoughts are with his parents," Wilson added.
