Leyton Orient defender Tamika Mkandawire has been offered a trial at Swansea City, Sky Sports News reports.

The 26 year old had put in solid performances for the O's last season and is also set to be handed a chance to impress new Watford boss Malky Mackay, as the Vicarage Road side have given the towering defender trial at the club.

Born in Mzuzu Malawi, Mkandawire has had a trial with MLS side New England Revolution in his career. Spending five seasons at West Brom, initially as a trainee he failed to make a single appearance for the Hawthorns outfit . Craving first team action he was sent out on loan to Hereford United.

Impressing then Bulls manager Graham Turner, he signed the defender outright in  2004. Moving to Brisbane Road in 2007 after making over 100 appearances for the Herefordshire club; The centre back now looks destined for a move to the Championship.
