Pardew Asks For A Sea Of Yellow
Pardew Asks For A Sea Of Yellow

Alan Pardew has asked for a sea of yellow at Milton Keynes Dons tonight.

Alan Pardew has called on the travelling army of Saints fans to lay on a sea of yellow as well as a cauldron of noise to show not only Markus Liebherr their gratitude for saving the club and backing the manager in rebuilding the squad, but to show MK Dons just what supporting a team is all about.

Saints of course famously wore Yellow at Wembley in the FA Cup final in 1976 and the League Cup final of 1979 but also the FA Cup fianl in Cardiff in 2003, on all three occasions the support was magnificent, big cup games and Yellow seem to go hand in hand with Saints and the supporters feel a real sense of tradition and affinity with it.

Ironically enough in the Zenith Data trophy of 1992, Saints wore a blue away kit more reminscent of Pompey and the day just didnt have the colour of the aforementioned games.

This time around Yellow features prominently in our away kit but on the shirts its not the main colour with only a patch across the front, perhaps when the kit is changed the designers will remember the traditions of Saints and stay with a yellow based kit rather than doing as they have and that is producing a completely different colour scheme design each time in order to maximise sales, their rationale being that more people will buy the shirt if it looks completely different from the last one.
