Saints Need To Stay Focused Thursday, 4th Apr 2013 10:57
The fact of the matter is that we are still only one bad result away from getting dragged into the relegation battle.
Defeat on Saturday at Reading aligned with wins for Villa and Wigan will see Saints dragged right back into the mire, this is why I have said a hundred times and will keep saying, its no use counting your chickens till they are hatched, we need to pull ourselves well away from safety and then and only then can we talk about 10th place or such like.
Various players have been quoted along these lines, but it still seems sometimes that too many people think that safety in the Premier league has been assured and that we should be talking top ten not relegation.
Im sure the players will stay focused on winning those points that will see us surge away and certainly a win on Saturday along with defeats to Villa and Wigan will put us on the cusp, but until then the task remains as it has done all season and that is to stay up.

They are not one, bad result away from being dragged down if Villa and Wigan have to do badly too - that's 3 results? Technically Saints are 6 results away from being dragged right back into the mire - 5 other teams have to do better. Anyway, non of that is important... Adkins will try to tell them to pass it out from the box, Saints will be on them like Terriers, they'll be panicked and confused and get pinned back to the goal line and then start doing long balls against the advice of the bench, Hooi, Fonte or Yosh will mop all that up. 2 down after 15mins and Reading's defence will be clucking, headless chickens running in all directions. So don't get so stressy! Relax! Have a beer! Reading are gonna get trashed!

The Saints players are hugely motivated. You can see that in recent games and I think they'll keep it up for the rest of the season. Everyone is still improving and they want to prove themsleves at the highest level. We've got a young, hungry team and they'll keep battling all the way. Reading are going down, they have no quality. But Adkins obviously knows all about us and might have a few ideas of how to hurt us. He'll be all too aware of our weaknesses. It'll be a difficult game for Saints but I'm confident that it'll be us playing all the football and we've got the quality to show them up a bit. Massive game for both teams. A win for us and then we can start looking up the table and push for a top half finish.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Norwich City Polls |
