Nigel Clough looks set to take Aidy White on-loan until the New Year.

The word is that White, 22, will link up with the League One strugglers next week on a three-month loan deal. White, who can play at left-back or on the wing has barely featured this season and was offered a loan move to Barnsley which he snubbed prior to the closure of the summer transfer window.

Now it appears that White has accepted his future, albeit short-term lies, away from Elland Road. His signing for the Bramall Lane outfit will end a long-chase for Nigel Clough who tried to sign him back in the summer of 2012.

Back then White was a free-agent, although Leeds would have received a compensation fee for him on account of his development through our academy. White held talks with Clough's Derby but failed to agree terms at Pride Park so he had a change of heart and resigned for Leeds .

He made 20 appearances last season but despite a wonder goal in the League Cup against Everton in the League Cup, he failed to keep a regular place. If he goes to Sheffield this will be the second time he has been loaned out, he spent 24 games on loan to Oldham in 2010 scoring four times.

The Blades will be getting a far better player than the last loanee to head that way eg Ryan Hall. Dare I also say a much more professional athlete and more grounded person (although Aidy has got a Twitter account!), he does have a useful burst of pace and good skill on the ball, but sometimes I feel his passing lets him down, he has a tendency to run down a blind alley and his eagerness to go forward often leaves us exposed when he plays left-back.

I'm sure Brian will watch his progress under Clough Jnr with interest, it feels that Aidy has been around for years but we are still waiting for him to fulfil his potential. We wish him well.
