Laudrup Disappointed By Penalty Decision
Sunday, 27th Oct 2013 20:46

Michael Laudrup was - rightly so - disappointed by the non-award of a penalty to his side at the end of the 0-0 draw with West Ham at the Liberty.

It looked like a certain penalty to the Swans but referee Phil Dowd failed to give it despite protests from the Swans to both him and the linesman during and after the game.

The draw was probably the fair result and the point lifted the Swans to ninth place in the Premier League but it was little consolation for the Swans on a frustrating afternoon at the Liberty where they all too often found themselves facing a side who parked all ten outfield players behind the ball in the final third of the pitch.

“There was a lot of emotion at the end about the penalty not given,” explained Laudrup.

“The referee or the linesman has only one second to see it, but the linesman was in a good position.

“When a player has his arm up and the ball touches it, normally it is a penalty.

“However, it is done, and we move on.”

And it is a move on for the Swans as they prepare for a trip to Cardiff next week which will come at the end of a welcome week off without a distraction of international football involved.
