City To Get Back On Track Tuesday, 28th Oct 2014 11:26 City will look to get back on track after a disappointing week which saw them throw a two-goal lead at CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and lose to West Ham over the weekend. The Blues started their defence of the Capital One Cup in emphatic fashion last month with a 7-0 thrashing of Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. Newcastle enter the match in high spirits after beating Tottenham 2-1 on Sunday to secure back-to-back wins and climb out of the Premier League relegation zone. Team News City are likely to rest some key players with the impending Manchester derby coming up. Samir Nasri and Frank Lampard are both still out. Newcastle will be without Emmanuel Riviere, Michael Williamson, Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse in addition to long term absentees Siem de Jong and Davide Santon. Stats Newcastle have never won the League Cup, and the closest they got to it was in 1976 as runners-up to Manchester City.
