New 3 Year Contract For Monk

Garry Monk's excellent first full season in management has earned him a new three year contract at the Swans adding more good news to the excellent summer that we are already having.

Fresh from delivering us four excellent new signings and then an extended deal for the likes of Jonjo Shelvey we have the extended contract for the manager who led us to a record breaking 8th place in the Premier League.

He was not that high up on many lists when we first sacked Michael Laudrup but nobody can dispute that he has proved his critics wrong with an excellent season in charge and the record breaking performance that it got.

And the new contract for Garry is well deserved and a great move by the club to make sure that one of the hotter properties in management knows he is valued here at Swansea and that we want him to stay.

“As a club we are pleased to agree the new contract with Garry,” said Chairman Huw Jenkins.

“It’s deserved reward for the fantastic season we’ve just had and all Garry’s hard work, commitment and loyalty to our football club over many years.

“We also feel it is vital to have stability within our football club, especially with Garry going into such a big season where the reward for remaining within the Barclays Premier League is going to be greater than ever in terms of finance and global exposure.”
