Gomes Closing In On French Return?
Sunday, 10th Jul 2016 18:30 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

It looks like time is almost up on Bafetimbi Gomis' time in Swansea with a move to Marseille back in his native France looming large on the horizon.

Gomis has not travelled to America with the Swans squad and looks set to depart the Liberty after a disappointing season last time around where he failed to live up to the high expectations set after a good finish to the season before.

Widely criticised for his performances and lack of effort it will be no surprise to see him leave Swansea this summer and it will be interesting to see now who the Swans look towards to fill his shoes.

We have of course been linked with a move for former striker Wilfried Bony but that will depend on some strong discussions around wages with both the player and Manchester City but it does look more and more likely that we will have a new striker leading our line next season.

Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu has - almost predictably - been linked following his performances in Wales and whilst he would be a good addition to the squad the Swans will not want to be replying on him as their first choice striker.

Marseille are looking to add to their strikeforce after losing Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea last week. The Blues paid £33million for the striker, who represented Belgium at Euro 2016.
