Dale face a long trip to Southend United in the first round of the FA Cup this season. The game will take place on Saturday 10th November in all probability.

It's hardly the draw that we'd have wanted and the odds will be against us progressing to the second round from the start, especially given that Roots Hall is one of our bogey grounds as it is.

If there's any consolation to be taken, then it will be that this will be just the second ever cup game between the two sides. The first game came in the 60/61 League Cup where Dale triumphed 5-2 at Spotland against the Shrimpers.
