Satruday's visitors Middlesborough, will be without a manager when they play at Carrow Road next Saturday, 23 October.

After just one year in charge, when he won only 13 of 46 games, Strachan must up and go.

Tony Mowbray, known to all Norwich supporters from his time at Ipswich, but also played for Middlesborough, is reckoned to be favourite to replace Strachan.

Mowbray followed Stachan into the manager's post at Celtic, but suffered Strachan's fate there by failing to deliver and getting sacked. Middlesborough supporters must hoe that the ill wind blows from a different quarter if Mowbray does get the job.

The previous story, about Crystal Palace's sorry plight, and George Burley looking to avoid a similar fate, spoke of how players always manage to lift their game when they know they must make an impression on a new manager. This news makes Saturday's match just thjat little bit more difficult.
