Goalkeeper Matt Glennon and midfielder Jake Simpson have been rewarded for their positive starts to their County careers by being handed contract extensions by manager Paul Simpson.

Both players made their debuts during the 2-0 win at Macclesfield Town at the start of September after signing on short terms deals.

Glennon has made 10 appearances following his arrival as a free agent and has helped the back four keep four clean sheets in that time after taking over as first team goalkeeper from Owain Fon Williams. The 32-year-old has proved to be a brilliant acquisition and has been rewarded for his good performance by being handed a contract which will keep the Stockport born stopper at Edgeley Park until 2012.

Although midfielder Simpson took a while to earn himself a place in the starting line up, he has also made 10 appearances since arriving at the club. Simpson has started the last six matches for the Hatters and in those matches he has shown why he was named as Shrewsbury's young player of the season during the last campaign. Jake, the son of the manager, has been handed a contract extension which will keep him at Edgeley Park until the end of the season.
