Trust Offering Apprenticeships

Town’s Charitable Trust is offering 20 young adults the chance to take part in a year-long apprenticeship. The scheme is ideally suited to students considering their options having left school this summer.

The apprenticeship is aimed at those who have a keen interest in a range of sports, not just football, and who would be excited about the prospect of supporting children predominantly of primary school age in developing their interest in sport as well as their skill levels.

Taking place over an average of 16 hours per week, which will be taken up with class-based academic studies supporting students towards the completion of their qualifications, all studies will be at Portman Road's own study centre. There will also be practical experience supporting our senior community coaches with in schools and at other coaching venues.

The qualifications offered through the apprenticeship include:

Level 1 Award in Coaching Football

Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership

Level 2 Certificate in Football Coaching

Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure And Learning

Functional skills will also be included.

Students will receive £40 per week while undertaking the apprenticeship. As the work will involve supporting children, the successful applicants must be prepared to undertake an enhanced CRB check.

If you are leaving secondary school this summer and would be interested in registering your interest, go to www.apprenticeships.org.uk and complete an online application form. The deadline for applications is Friday 8th July 2011 with interviews the following week.
