Stadium reports from Walsall and Swindon games

Stadium reports for the Walsall and Swindon games from Portsmouth FC Head of Operations Derek Stone.

Stadium Report: Pompey v Walsall

Please see below update from Saturday’s match against Walsall .

The actual attendance through the turnstiles was 11, 767 with 321 away visitors.

There were 3 minor medical incidents which were treated on site and no arrests.

We had to eject a female from the Fratton end following complaints from supporters around her due to her being heavily intoxicated. This was her very first visit to Fratton Park and her companion left with her as she was in no fit state to be on her own.

The maintenance team were kept busy throughout the match and we had a fire alarm activation in Partners Lounge corridor as a result of the dishwasher being opened and the steam activating the heat detector in the corridor. This is the second activation in two consecutive days and the extractor fan in this small room needs to be upgraded to avoid this happening again.

Stadium Report: Pompey v Swindon Town

Please see below the match update for last night’s match against Swindon Town .

The actual attendance through the turnstiles was 12,121 with 1,455 away supporters.

Considering pre-match Swindon had only purchased 700 ticket, the ticket office staff did well to sell 755 away tickets plus catering for our own walk ups on the evening.

There were no medical incidents and no real issues apart from the fire alarm activating twice due to the dishwasher being opened next to Partners lounge.

I am awaiting a quote to upgrade the extractor fan in this room to resolve this problem as we cannot continue with these false alarm activations.

We had a problem in the west stand towards the end of the game with a supporter who was seen drinking alcohol. When he was challenged and asked to vacate his seat so the steward could deal with him he refused and his friends with him, began to abuse the stewards. The male refused to comply with the directions of the stewards and eventually the police removed the individual and his friend. The friend was ejected but the male who had been drinking became aggressive towards the police and was arrested.

A quick check on the ticket system revealed that these two aged 23 years, had purchased young person tickets and not adult tickets and had not paid the full price to enter the stadium. They were deliberately obstructive and did not comply with steward instructions and they created an ugly situation that could have been avoided totally.

The arrested person is still in custody 12 hours after his arrest and will be subject to a club ban irrespective of any police action.
