Saints V Hull City The Preview

Saints need to beat Hull City at St Mary's

Saints go into the game at St Mary's knowing that anything less than a win will undo all the good work of the past fortnight.

Saints have gone from being a side that scored plenty of goal to one that is finding it hard to hit th target and george Burley will surely be considering freshening things up in the attack.

The problem is with that is that BWP is the only forward with genuine pace and with the likelihood of both Dyer and Hammill being sidelined if he is dropped to the bench then we are going to have to craft goals.

If BWP is dropped and I say if although im assuming that Burley will keep faith with Stern John who is scoring, then will he go with Saganowski who didnt impress on Tuesday off the bench, or will he give a rare start to Rasiak, personally I would plump for the latter.

At the back its a question on who is fit, if Davies recovers then it will probably be the same defensive line up that started the game against Sheffield Wednesday, if not we could see a debut for Mettomo as Viafara will be needed in midfield.

But this is a must win game for Saints, too many home points have been dropped so far and they need to scrap out another win as they did against Blackpool, certainly Saints are starting to play with a little more confidence and just need the break of a goal to open the floodgates, Hull were well beaten at Preston in midweek and will be looking to avoid that sort of defeat again so could come with defence in mind and that is always a problem for saints as was proved last season as Hull held out for a scoreless draw.

For Saints the game is there to be won, they owe the supporters a good home win, so far each one has been by a one goal margin, it would just be nice to see a real goal feast for once where we dont have to spend the last 10 minutes worrying about an equaliser or worse.
