My Views On White Rock

Great to see the new football/rugby stadium emerging from the ground at last, the stadium is long overdue and I congratulate the council for grasping the nettle and getting it going. I think the White Rock Stadium is a great name as both teams play in white and Rock (which is hard of course) gives people the impression that it will be hard to come here and beat the Jacks and Whites. Naming the stands is a good idea but there are so many football/rugby legends that have represented Swansea that it would be difficult to choose, especially when each code can only choose two. If we did choose I would name them after Robbie James and Harry Griffiths. As far as the seating is concerned I would choose all black but I think it needs breaking up with a few white names mixed in like THE SWANS OR THE WHITES for rugby, but definitely no blue please or they will probably get ripped early doors. The entrance to the stadium should definitely not be a dragon, I'm proud to be Welsh and love our national dragon but this is the home of The Swans and The Whites so we need two enormous club logos side by side over the main entrance. How about a few bronze statues just outside the ground like Wolverhampton have done with their hero Billy Wright. We could have Ivor Allchurch and Roger Blyth for example or even a few of them around the ground. One very important thing is to try and recreate the atmosphere we have at the Vetch, it has to be all seating but we should allocate the North West area of the stand for our singing Swans i.e. no season ticket holders in this area. As for the away fans they must be stuck behind the goal, why should they get any special treatment we don't at away grounds. I think our attendances will increase when the stadium opens, after all it's a great place to go and watch football/rugby and to take the kids out for the afternoon. Lets be honest The Vetch is awful because it's not been improved for donkeys years so roll on 2005/2006.
