POSTER PROFILE - jeffnich

Jeffrey George Zippee Bungle Nicholas was born. Well, quite obviously he was born but his place, place, time and birth weight are all a mystery so I thought I would just say he was born. Born to his parents Rain and Bow, two early prototypes of the hippy movement.

Life wasn't easy in the Nicholas household when he was growing up - they had a bath in their front room you know which was shared between the nine Nicholas kids every Thursday before they retired to bed having listened to the wireless (it was always a wireless in that age for some reason) and had the cup of tea.

And it was from this age that Jeffrey wished for a world far far away. A world where winter was summer, summer was winter, women were men and men, well they were sheep farmers, kangaroo molesters or worse still bloody leg spin bowlers.

But he knew from the age of 6 that it was to be a distant dream and one that he would have to work at. From his early days down the coal mines at the age of eight through his eleven plus and into his teenage years he dreamt of the land they call Oz. Indeed, he spent much of his teenage years looking for the yellow brick road which he believed he found once but soon realised that someone had had a particularly bad curry at the top of Constitution Hill.

And Jeffrey's fascination with Australia cost him his first love when she asked him to move down under and as far as we know is still waiting on the bed for him, thirty years since he caught the flight from Heathrow. So legend has it anyway.

Life was not easy for the man when he first moved to Australia though. Mainly through his constant criticism of a country that gave us Rolf Harris and Dame Edna Everidge amongst others. But he soon settled into the Aussie way of life with barbies on the beach although the odd stare was given at the first one when Ken ran off with Sindy after one amber nectar too many.

But despite his yearning to live as far away from Swansea as is almost feasibly possible, Jeffrey still keeps close contact with his home city. And the evolution of the internet has made it all the more possible although he does tend to find the site a little lonely as he logs on after work and the rest of the civilised world is fast asleep but he copes with the disappointment quite well.

He is Swansea's favourite Aussie fan and he's one of us really. Ladies and gents that was jeffnich

Pompey have new heroes in 2024 - and it takes me back to 1983, 2012 and many points in between
