Meet The Ref - QPR

Matthew Phillips introduces us to the man in the middle for the QPR game

Tuesday’s match referee is Anthony Bates from Staffordshire; he became a Football League ref in 1996. His claim to fame is he once was the assistant referee in the EURO 96 Final between Germany and the Czech Republic and also the 1996 FA Cup Final between Man Utd and Liverpool.

This season he averages just 2 yellows per game and has taken charge of 17 Swansea City games since 1997, we have won just 6 of those games and none of the matches have ended in a draw yet. From previous games, I know he can be pedantic and very whistle-happy.

The two linesmen will be Andy Hendley from the West Midland and Lee Swabey from Devon, the two managers will be observed by a woman on the sidelines, Sasa Ihringova from Shropshire is the 4th Official.

Stats so far for this season:

12 Games,

24 Yellows,

1 Red.
